The project concerns the redesigning of an optical shop located in the city centre of Massa, a small town in the northernmost point of Tuscany. The “Ottica torinese” was and is a reference point for the local optometry. The study comes from a double need: on one hand, the need to rationalise spaces by creating an easily accessible open space, and on the other hand, the need to focus on the finishes' materials and the furniture design. The furniture are custom designed and custom made, from the steel desks to the fitted furniture. The walls and ceilings' surface are simple and white, in contrast with the emperador brown marble flooring. This creates a simple yet dynamic space characterized by the volumes of the ceilings and the contrasts of the materials.
